Biography

I graduated from the University of Toronto, Canada with a Master of Social Work.  I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Virginia
and a Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor (BCPCC) through the American Association of Christian Counselors (www.aacc.net).

During the past 9 years, I have worked in various counseling settings including working with the adult population (20 to 59 years) at a community mental health center in Fairfax County, Virginia.  I also worked with families and adolescents at INOVA Fairfax Hospital and at a dialysis center in Chicago
providing support and counsel to patients and their families.

In May 2008, I left community mental health and started a private practice.  One of the reasons for this was to have more space in my life to invest in the relationships that are closest to me - my relationship with my husband and children and my relationship with God.

Also, around the time our first daughter was born, my husband and I talked about raising emotionally healthy children.  From his experience as a pastor for the past 16 years and my experience as a psychotherapist for the past 9 years we believed that if our children are emotionally healthy, they are better able to handle both the successes and failures in life.  They would also be more secure in their identity and hold a healthy view of God.  Raising emotionally and spiritually healthy children has been our family saying since.

When I am not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughters and being a part of my home church.
