The story in the book of Luke begins to unfold with two people on the road to Emmaus, in a state of emotional crisis. They were greatly discouraged, confused, feeling hopeless, and in despair. It is at this precise moment when Jesus showed up and began to walk with them.

3. love others authentically, and
4. contribute to their social community as an emotionally and mentally healthy individual.
